A message from our principal...

Welcome to the 2009/10 school year in the Central Union School District. Central Union Elementary is a rural school with over 70 years of serving our local families. There is much tradition, school culture, and community pride on the campus. We are a K-8th grade school with a student population of 385 students. Central school also serves 24 preschool students through a state preschool program. Student diversity is a strength on the Central campus.

Educating all students at Central School to their highest potential and instilling a commitment to further education remains the mission of our staff. Supporting our mission and motto, “Together We Achieve,” Central School in partnership with parents and community members will continue to give our children a school that is safe, secure, and where maximum potential and success are promoted. Our partnership is committed to the full development of our children as lifelong learners and future leaders.

Our common school-wide goals include:

• closing the achievement gap for those students who are in our focus groups
• continuing to promote our CHARACTER COUNTS!!! program and curriculum
• providing a safe school environment where all students are safe and secure
• continue to teach the California State Learning Standards at all grade levels

Central’s students, teachers, parents and community have worked together to make this a reality. The entire staff at Central School is dedicated to educating the “whole child,” while at the same time preparing the students for a world of challenging standards. Central is a school that finds strength in its diversity and takes pride in its heritage. The school motto is “Student, Parent, School, Together We Achieve.” Central stands by this motto, believing that its students can only achieve to their full potential if there is a partnership between the home and school.

Our mission at Central Union Elementary School is to provide a safe school environment, build positive character, celebrate diversity, and support academic excellence. Central School staff is committed to building and strengthening family and community partnerships for the purpose of student success and enabling students to function as productive and successful citizens in a changing society.
